Understanding Public and Money
The Pirates have won six straight, the A’s have lost five straight, and A’s starter James Kaprielian has been taking his lumps in all seven of the losses he started. The Pirated rallied late last night to win and carry over the win streak momentum. They are 4-1 behind Keller at home and 9-3 overall. The Pirates last three wins have been by one run, but I’m going to play run-line here with Keller who has won by 2-runs or more in his last eight starts the Pirates won.
After being in an early 3-0 hole, the Pirates came back to defeat the Athletics on Monday. It helps that the Athletics have the worst bullpen ERA in baseball. In this game, look for the Pirates to win a laugher. They will start Mitch Keller, who has 93 strikeouts to go along with a 1.08 WHIP over 74 2/3 innings. Taking the mound for the Athletics will be James Kaprielian, who has an 8.12 ERA to go along with his bloated 1.81 WHIP.
The Oakland Athletics are now 12-50. They only lost by one on Monday, but we're gonna bet it's back to losing by multiple runs, which means it's the -1.5 run line (-120). Of the A's 62 games this season, they've lost by more than one run 39 times. They are now 5-26 on the road, too. The Pirates are starting breakout star Mitch Keller and while he's faltered a bit in his last two starts, things are more favorable here. Keller has a 2.18 ERA at home and the road A's are much smoother sailing than any other team he's faced. The A's counter with James Kaprielian, whose 8.12 ERA is bad enough, but it's 10.32 on the road.
